It’s nice having a local agent like Roy. I appreciated being able to drop by his office, sit down, and talk things through. That was one of the big reasons I chose him. He and his staff are friendly, professional, and I truly believe they want to do right by their customers. However, when I recently had a very simple auto claim, I quickly learned that the claims process is handled by State Farm corporate, not Roy. After taking my car to an out-of-network shop, a week went by with no action—no one had even scheduled a visit to review the supplemental estimate. Because of that delay, I ended up paying cash for the repair and then had to get reimbursed by State Farm directly. Let me tell you, that was not simple! I reached out to Roy, and while he was kind and did make inquiries on my behalf, it became clear he had no real ability to influence or speed up the claims process. For me, this was disappointing. Claims are where insurance companies prove their value. When something happens to your car or home, you need prompt handling, clear communication, and updates as things progress. That was not my experience here. Roy is a great local agent, but unfortunately, State Farm’s claims system let me down.
